NextPlat (NASDAQ: NXPL, NXPLW) announced with deep sadness the sudden passing of Executive Chairman and CEO Charles M. Fernandez on May 24. Fernandez had led the company since July 2021. The Board has appointed Rodney Barreto, Chair of the Audit Committee, as Interim Chairman, and David Phipps, current President and CEO of Global Operations, as Interim CEO. Vice Chairman Doug Ellenoff expressed condolences, noting Fernandez’s dedication to family and the company. Barreto, a director since 2022, brings over 35 years of business and civic leadership, while Phipps previously led NextPlat through its early growth and Nasdaq listing. The company is respecting the family’s privacy and will not provide further comment at this time.
